"Do you know how long I have waited for my revenge? After I have feasted on this morsel, I shall feast on the Avantian dead... Every last one of them, Tom, once Ria has laid waste to your homeland. Never again shall a Master of the Beasts defeat me!"

- Nersepha

Nersepha is a monstrous mermaid and the last of the Beasts of Makai. She was stationed at the Bay of Heroes during Ria's preparations to invade Avantia to guard the fleet, which were yet to be fuelled by the Floating Elixir. One of the Cursed Siren's arms is a three-pointed blade forged from redsteel. Nersepha was one of the four Beasts of Eris defeated by four Masters and Mistresses of the Beasts, but unlike her ally Beasts, she dearly sought revenge for the defeat and subsequent three centuries of dormancy, stating she wished to devour every Avantian, Rionian, Gwildorian and Tangalan corpse, having prepared a specific order for her genocide of consumption. The only currently named spaceship in Beast Quest Space Wars is named after Nersepha.

Destruction of Makai[]

Nersepha was one of the Beasts summoned by Eris, a dark sorceress. Eris sent her Beasts to bring destruction to Makai, the four Evil Beasts quickly slaughtering the population and razing the settlements. Four neighbouring kingdoms sent their Masters/Mistresses of the Beasts to Makai to defeat the Beasts. The four warriors bested Nersepha and took her token, storing it on their ship. When the ship attempted to leave Makai, Eris used her magic to sink it, leaving the tokens of her Beasts on the seafloor.

The Lost Beasts of Makai[]

Ria recovered the tokens of the Beasts of Eris and used the tokens to revive them, the Beasts becoming loyal to her. Ria stationed Nersepha in the Bay of Heroes, the Beast hiding deep below the surface while guarding the partially completed fleet. Like the other Beasts, Ria enhanced the mermaid Beast by infusing her arm blade with redsteel. Due to being dormant for centuries, the Cursed Siren plotted to satisfy her rage by slaughtering the population of the other realms when the Pirates of Makai attacked the kingdoms.

Using an illusion spell conjured by Daltec to distract the Pirates of Makai, Tom swam through the water towards Ria's ship, remaining hidden. As he approached the ship, he heard what he initially believed to be a whale call, but it was actually the cry of Nersepha. Looking down, Tom saw the Beast's silhouette swimming below him, though the mermaid was unaware of his presence, allowing the Avantian to continue swimming as the Cursed Siren continued past.

Confronting Tom on her ship, Ria revealed Nersepha as her final Beast. As she was introduced, the Cursed Siren caught the scent of Daltec and Mathilde, a member of the Makaian rebels, on a cliff overlooking the coastline. Bursting from the water, the Beast arched her body to shake off seawater. She buried her dagger in the cliff and began to climb. Reaching the top of the cliff, the Cursed Siren drew her blade from the rock before smashing it back in, causing part of the cliff to collapse. Daltec was able to catch a rock, however Mathilde fell into the sea, followed in by Nersepha. As Tom reached the rebel, the Beast positioned herself below them while using her call and charged upwards, grabbing Mathilde. Nersepha welcomed Tom through the Red Jewel, refusing to let the woman go and explaining once she had eaten her, she would feast on the dead of Avantia when the Pirates of Makai attacked, laughing as she declared a Master of the Beasts would never defeat her again. The Cursed Siren continued, assuring Tom she would next devour the people of Rion, Gwildor and Tangala. As she laughed again, Nersepha was shot in the back by Elenna, causing the Beast to furiously turn and demand to know who dared attack her. Defended from pirates by conscripted slaves and rebels, Elenna fired more arrows, forcing the Cursed Siren to swat them aside with her blade. Using the distraction, Tom swam towards Nersepha and lunged, the attack parried by the Evil Beast's dagger. As she drew her weapon back to spear the Avantian, Tom leapt forwards and grabbed the middle prong of the dagger. As Nersepha furiously demanded he let go, the young warrior slashed her wrist, making the Beast howl in pain and drop Mathilde. As Tom swam to the rebel, Nersepha moved below the waves and charged towards them, calling out in fury. Tom swam towards the shore with Mathilde and pushed her ashore to her son, however as he attempted to pull himself onto land, Nersepha grabbed his legs, pulling him back through the water before emerging from the surf. The Beast held him up to her face, opening her mouth to swallow him, but the Master of the Beasts slashed his blade into her wrist once more, forcing her to release him. Hitting the water, Tom began to swim towards the ships, pursued by Nersepha, who told him he wouldn't escape. Reaching Tom as he turned towards her, the Cursed Siren slashed for his face, missing as her foe dodged aside, allowing the blade to strike a hull and become stuck. Roaring as she tried to free her hand, Tom grabbed an anchor trailing from a ship and began to climb, taunting Nersepha into following. As the Cursed Siren attempted to pursue him, her blade became caught in a chain link, trapping her. As Tom climbed and the anchor began to be pulled upwards, the trapped Beast promised to pick Tom's bones clean, which went ignored.

Nersepha eventually freed herself and hauled her body up the remaining length of chain. She climbed over the gunwale as Tom bested Ria in battle, shaking in fury and snorting. As she approached, Ria struck Tom in the legs, causing him to fall. Nersepha raised her blade to strike Tom's heart, both her and Ria being certain of victory. Panicking, Tom lashed out with his blade without thinking, using the power of the Golden Breastplate. The blade slashed through the flesh above the dagger, tearing it away. Howling in pain as her limb fell away, the Cursed Siren shuddered before her body exploded in a wave of seawater.

The Call of Tranquility

"Nersepha has the body of a woman and the tail of a sea creature. Her dark scales shimmer like oil, and her green hair writhes like seaweed. Her eyes cast an ominous glow underwater. Like the other Beasts of Makai, her body is enhanced with redsteel - in her case, a three-pronged dagger where her right hand should be..."
