Muro the Rat Monster is a rat Beast who lived in the Kayonian Plains. A scourge to the farmers of the land, the Beast attacked and devoured farmers, and ruining the harvest by using his acidic spittle to melt the crops. He is a huge and deadly rat, said to be roughly the size of a bull. Muro has an incredible sense of smell, able to pick up the slightest scents for locating and hunting prey, which is necessary for the Beast due to the fact that he is completely blind, unable to see foes standing directly in front of his face. The Beast's fur is dense enough to block projectiles and his whiskers are as tough and sharp as steel. At the base of his tail sat the Jade Ring, which he fiercely guarded.
The World of Chaos[]
Muro was a Beast who occupied the Kayonian Plains for centuries, attacking farmers and ruining crops as he occupied the territory. After Velmal fled to Kayonia from Gwildor to escape Amictus and Tom, he began plotting to take power, recruiting six Evil Beasts of Kayonia to aid him, one of which was Muro. The Rat Monster began ruining harvests intentionally for Velmal to cause a food shortage, allowing the wizard to begin cooking a mind-controlling stew to enslave the population. If Muro didn't already possess the Jade Ring, he was given the artefact by Velmal to guard.

While gathering everything for the year's harvest, the farmer Roland came across a patch of diseased and ruined crops, which were infected by Muro's spittle. As he began to head back to town to inform the other farmers so they could begin attempting to save the uninfected crops, Muro sensed him and shrieked, charging at Roland, who spotted the approaching Beast and when his cries for help went unheard by the other farmers, he hid under his cart. The Rat Monster charged straight into the cart, pulling back and charging into it a second time, toppling it and revealing Roland. The Beast loomed over the farmer before attacking, biting into his face and killing him.

Muro returned to destroying crops until he was alerted to the noise of Tom and Elenna battling a pack of rats in the field. The Rat Monster rushed over to engage them. Shrieking as he approached, Muro entered a clearing in the field where Tom and Elenna were, pawing the ground as he came to a stop. With a screech, the Rat Monster rushed towards Tom while ignoring an arrow bouncing off of his thick fur, barely missing his foe when Tom pulled himself and Elenna into the crops, causing the Beast to sail past them into the corn, however one of his whiskers slashed Tom's face. Muro quickly located his foes again, crashing through the corn with a shriek and knocking Tom to the ground, smashing his feet into his foe's shield before rushing away once more. The Rat Monster charged from the corn again, however Tom sidestepped the charge and slashed off a whisker, which Muro ignored as he rushed away while Elenna collected the whisker. Once more, the Beast charged out of the crops, knocking Tom to the ground before being distracted by a whistle from Elenna, charging after her. While pursuing Elenna, the archer fired his severed whisker at him, being sharp enough to penetrate his fur and embedded into his flank, making Muro screech in agony. Hearing Tom scramble to his feet, the Rat Monster swung around to face him, however as Tom only yelled to the Beast he would defeat him and didn't move, Muro lost track of the Avantian due to him being covered in mud that masked his scent, snuffling across the clearing trying to find his foe. Blinking in confusion, Muro continued to search the area until he heard a piece of brittle corn snap under Tom's feet as he approached, turning and lunging with his head, striking his foe but accidentally throwing him onto his back. Trying to throw the Avantian off, Muro began bucking and spinning, eventually reaching his head round and sinking his teeth into Tom's leg, before being forced off by an arrow striking him in the face. Desperate, Muro rushed off through the corn, being guided by Tom towards the windmill by tugging his fur, smashing into the brick wall of the masonry and crumpling. Before Tom could cut off his tail, he was attacked by the villagers under Velmal's control, which gave the Beast time to climb to his feet and flee into the fields.

Tom wasn't delayed for long, as Elenna and Storm scattered the controlled villagers, allowing him to escape. As they did so, Silver rushed into the fields to track down Muro, quickly locating the Beast. Sensing the wolf, Muro screeched and rushed after him, unaware he was being lead to the Avantians. Hearing Storm snort as he emerged, the Rat Monster turned towards him and charged, however the stallion leapt aside and as the Beast thundered past, Tom leapt down and hacked through Muro's tail. The Beast ground to a halt with a choking roar before his body began to disintegrate, chunks of his flesh turning into individual rats who rushed away into the fields.

- Enhanced Strength: Muro has enhanced strength, enough to almost trample Tom, who only survived because of his shield.
- Rat Manipulation: Muro has control over rats.
- Acidic Saliva: Muro's saliva is acidic enough to melt crops.

- Blindness: Muro is blind and has to use his other senses to locate prey.
- Tail Removal: If Muro's tail is cut off, he is defeated, exploding into hundreds of smaller rats.
